Breakfast is important One very common problem for many Anxiety sufferers is the feeling that they cant face breakfast.

Magnifying and minimising Im the worst case of Anxiety ever, and the progress Ive made so far just doesnt count. Turning my head or getting up from a sitting position made me dizzy and I would have to grab the nearest object to hang on to. Wash those hands, check that light. And while were on the subject, lets answer those two questions. PROBLEM: class lasts an hour, I dont feel fit enough for that yet. The fact that you are frightened of something that doesnt present any physical danger to you is neither here nor there to the primitive system that takes charge at that moment. Think back over your life in the two years leading up to your first experience of panic, phobia, obsession or GAD and tick any of the items that you experienced. They vary from person to person but doctors use the following list - if you experience four or more of these sensations in the space of a few seconds then you are probably having a panic attack: shortness of breath a choking sensation rapid or irregular heartbeat chest pains tension in muscles trembling or shaking numbness intense sweating dizziness nausea urgent need to go to the toilet. Assessing your life balance Use your notebook to keep a record of how you sd your time for a complete week. Just like coping skills, rewards can be anything as long as they are not: Stick to the boundary once youve set it. If you become tired, take a rest. If you suspect that you have a sleep disorder, then you should talk to your doctor. Reassess your goals Have you set two of the rungs on the ladder too far apart, and is that why your progress has stalled? Typical thoughts are: I cut down my checking yesterday morning, but I was as bad as ever in the afternoon. Lots of people recover from Anxiety, but Ill be the exception. Magnifying and minimising This kind of selective attention makes bad things big and good things small, so its really a combination of filtering and discounting the positive. If you become tired, take a rest. Mind, body and spirit are all inter- connected, and can influence each other in ways that we often fail to understand. Ive had my breakfast, lunch, then tea. Are you resisting recovery? The thoughts became embroidered emotionally with the most extraordinary possibilities and I would sd hours ruminating on what was to be. You may already be making progress towards that through the work youve already done.
